They also made 96% of the countries railroad locamotives, leading to two times the amount of railroads per square mile than the South for faster and more effecient travel and transportation.
The North was in total controll of the navy at the time of the war and they had the power to put a blockade on the South, which would ruin the Souths trade and transportation.
